Time to relax and enjoy life.

It's uncanny how quickly time can pass by. Already it has been two weeks since arriving back in Canada from my European adventure, and I have no idea where the time went.

Our last days on trip came and went with a speed that surprised everyone. Florence was an amazing city to explore, and while I recommend climbing to the top of Il Duomo, it is not an experience I'll be repeating anytime soon. We didn't actually get to climb the main dome, but climbed the bell tower instead. I rarely have moments where my claustrophobia becomes uncontrollable, but I was very close to publicly embarrassing myself in the confines of the tower stairs. It is definitely not a climb for the overly tall, the overly wide, or the overly claustrophobic...lesson learned.

Between Tuscan cooking lessons, exploring the famous leather markets (where I may have spent more money than I should have), and wandering the streets, Florence is definitely a city that I want to go back and explore some more. I was constantly running into backpackers from around the world who had nothing but amazing experiences to talk about. There is apparently no lack of well-priced hostels with great amenities all around the city centre.

I didn't get as much of a chance to explore Nice the same way as Florence, our two nights really only left us with one day to explore the city, enjoy the beaches, and get in our water-sports activity. What I saw of the city was great, but I do not know what else the city has except a great place to rent a beach chair to enjoy the sun and surf. I'm sure there is so much more to do, but I will need to wait for another time to find out because on our second morning in Nice we were off to the airport for a long flight home. I don't want to get into the details, but between bags being left behind, cancelled flights, long waits for rebooking, I will never be booking Delta by choice for a long time. While I understand that things go wrong with airlines, but Delta missed almost ever customer service opportunity to make a shitty day even slightly better.

Since coming back I have really changed gears to slow down and enjoy what free time I have left this summer. I haven't done much more than visit friends in Lakefield, relax at the family farm, and get a weekend in at the cottage, and that has been great! I've been able to sit back and read, catch up on Game of Thrones (best season yet!?!), and generally try and undo an entire year lived at break-neck speeds. Unfortunately this is too good to last, and two weeks from today is my first day back to school.
