Colombia's Calling!

It's official, I'm moving to Colombia July 2018! I've accepted a two-year contract with Colegio Canadiense Medellin to teach Math and Physics. Everything I've seen and heard about this school makes this sound like it's going to be the adventure of a lifetime working with great kids in an amazing country. While I'm sure the next two years will be filled with plenty of ups and downs, this will definitely be an experience that will change me forever and I'm excited to see where it goes.

What I find really interesting about the position is that I'll be teaching British Colombia curriculum, and that my students will be working towards graduating high school with two diplomas, one from their national curriculum and the BC Dogwood diploma. This is a program that I knew nothing about prior to my job search earlier this year, and I've been blown away at just how many BC Overseas Schools there are out there! I'll have three preps and six classes, teaching grade 11 Math and Physics, as well as grade 12 Physics. The students will be mostly or entirely Colombia nationals where English is not their first language. I look forward to meeting all of them soon!

Medellin, Colombia itself is going to be an exceptional base for traveling and exploring over the next two years. The opportunities in Colombia alone are enough to keep me busy for the two years, and then there's the rest of Central and South America available for me to explore!!! I'm definitely going to be living up to the Teaching Nomad nickname...

Speaking of which, I'm taking off for a 13 day trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos this Wednesday, so there'll be an update for that coming soon!
