New Year: New Goals

As the end of my contract in June comes ever closer, I find it amazing at how many little things start to pop up that need to be done before my next adventure can begin.  It starts with updating and revamping the resume and cover letter for another round of job applications.  This is something that I always dread, but I have found a lot of help and support from friends and coworkers.  I always feel daunted by the challenge of selling myself in something that seems as short and impersonal as a resume and cover letter.  Distilling why you are the candidate for the job in three pages or less always seems like you're going to be selling yourself short.

My next biggest goal to tackle has been to sort through all of the stuff I have acquired over the years and start to pair down to something more manageable to store as I take off.  I have always had trouble parting with things.  Keep that old pair of jeans incase I need something to paint in, keep that sweater that has never fit right because maybe I'll like it later.  The excuses to keep things almost number as high as the things I need to get rid of!  I've decided to tackle it one small chunk at a time, and I'm impressed with how much I've been able to purge on the first round through, but I know that by March or April I'll be doing another purge and further trying to cut down on what I keep and what may end up in storage.
